In 2004 a line of cosmetics designed for the eyes and face boasted the ability to blend perfectly and flawlessly with 97% of skin tones. Impossible you say? Those that have been using these products for the last four years beg to differ. They report that they are never without their seamless coverage foundation. Here’s how it works. These products feature a pigment system created with chroma color spheres that, when applied to your face, join together with your skin to imitate your exact skin tone color. Chroma color spheres work to balance colors – even opposing colors such as blemishes and dark circles. This “technology” is old news in the art world, but a hot new trend in the beauty industry. This technology of advanced color-matching allows makeup to adjust itself to the tones of the skin. The results are touted as makeup that looks and feels natural because it leaves no streaks, no lines and no distinct signs of makeup use on hard to cover combination skin.

Abstract patterns and bright, bold colors are hot on the fashion scene. Take another look and you’ll see the sleek lines of black and white clothing and accessories. And what about casual weekend wear and your Sunday best – how do you match your makeup with your ever-changing style? Look to the pages of fashion mags for the answer. It used to be that if your clothes made a statement, your makeup tended to be subdued so you didn’t resemble a circus clown. Today’s makeup style has changed and it is equally as vibrant as your clothes. The trick is knowing which colors to punch up and which tone down. If you’re wearing graphic prints, let your most vivid piece of clothing set the palate for your makeup. Use the lightest shade as your eye and cheek accent color – you’re choosing whites, sands, pinks and shell tones here. For your crease or lid color look to the darkest shades. These can also be your liner color depending on how you dress you eyes. Mascara is all gloss black this summer when wearing high-impact colors or prints. Lips are either in a soft shade of your accent color or just nude with a swipe of balm to keep them looking healthy.

Just as you should adjust your wardrobe and your skincare as the seasons change, the same goes for your beauty and makeup. Throw the latest trends into the mix and you’ve got a great way to stay in with the times and what’s popular right now. If you need a little hint as to what you should start doing differently in your beauty and makeup routine, don’t worry, you’ll find all your answers right here. In case you haven’t figured it out by now, thin, barely there eyebrows are so out of style! Gone are the days when shaving or plucking the brows and redrawing them were seen as stylish. There is nothing cool about having a constant fixed expression on your face. So thankfully, common sense has started to kick in the fashion world and now dark and thick eyebrows are being embraced by all. Of course that doesn’t mean that unibrows and bushy eyebrows are something to imitate. The key to pulling off this latest makeup trend is to have your brows properly groomed and shaped. You’ll want to keep your brows’ natural shape or maybe add a little more arch, but that’s it. Clean up the strays and don’t be afraid to sport more natural-looking brows. To achieve this look, you can use the aid of brow powder to get just the right look.

It’s what we’d all like to achieve with minimal effort every day…and night – a dewy, fresh from yoga class look during the day and, with nothing more than a quick touch up, red carpet glamour at night. It’s easier than you think to get these looks and it only takes a few products, not a palate full of colors and creams. The key to a fresh, day-sexy face is to keep it simple. If it takes you longer than 5 minutes to do your makeup, you’re doing too much. And if you’re using more than two products – other than concealer and mascara – you’re putting on to much. For a no-makeup look that accentuates your features so that people notice them and not your makeup, you want to always use sheer color. This is easy when you use two-in-one products like eye and cheek pressed powder or cheek and lip stain. You want to focus on pinks that blend browns or peach and apricot. Too much bronze or gold makes flakes of shimmer (which they almost always contain) stand out and sink into any creases on your face. For the healthy flush we all desire, use a powder brush and eye and cheek pressed powder to add sheer color to your brown bones, lids, to the fullest part of your cheeks and just above your eyebrows. Finish by using your finger to sweep low shimmer cheek and lip stain ever so slightly on your cheeks and lips. Mascara is always a must in brown or light black. Apply close to your lash line and you won’t need eyeliner.

If you’ve experimented with eye makeup only to have terrible results, maybe it’s due to the fact that you aren’t taking your eyelid shape into consideration. Many women are unaware of the fact that eyelids, just like the body, hair and just about anything on the human body, comes in different shapes and varies from person to person. That being said, knowing your eyelid shape can help you when it comes to applying eye makeup and getting it right the first time.

Apparently facing down hordes of swashbuckling pirates was a cakewalk compared to Keira Knightley’s latest role. Reports online suggest that the lofty wig she wore for her role in period drama, The Duchess was so heavy, a platform had to be built for it. She told a US newspaper, "High heels are bad enough. I don`t think you need a corset and wigs, as well. The wigs were the problem. They were big like birdcages.”
