Go Short this Summer: The Pixie Cut is BackThe summer months can be so full of activities and fun in the sun that the last thing you want to do is spend an exorbitant amount of time on your hairstyle. One way that you can continue to look great all summer with minimal effort is to ask your hairstylist for a pixie cut for the season. Pixie cuts are characterized as sassy and sexy, and this style never seems to become passé. Instead, it simply gets an update from season to season to keep it styling and modern.

Pixie cuts are usually considered to be short, layered styles that can be slightly longer on top and cut closer to the head on the sides and in the back. While there is much less hair to have to keep in shape with this type of haircut, the do still sports plenty of versatility to give you an individual look and a personalized style. You can wear a pixie sleek or messy, or you can adorn it with one of the many cute hair accessories that are all the rage this season. Many of the stars are wearing a version of the pixie cut this year, including Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams and Elisha Cuthbert. These styles can look good on just about any face shape and any age.

How to Style the Pixie

There are few styles that are easier to doll up than the pixie cut. Simply wash, towel dry and use your fingers to comb your locks into shape. Apply a styling gel, and allow to air dry or use your blow dryer with a diffuser for a quicker wash and wear. A mist of hairspray and you are ready to go. Nothing is easier for a quick and stylish do that will get you through the summer season looking and feeling your best.

For the diva who loves drama, the pixie cut is the perfect choice because you can get creative with your hair color. Locks this short will survive the chemicals from coloring a lot better than longer styles can. Try a platinum blond, deep auburn or jet black if you like to sport a do that gets attention. You can wear your hair conservatively tailored for the office, and then add some gel and mess your do for a more carefree evening look. The choices with a pixie cut are much more plentiful than you might think.

If you are looking for a new look for summer, why not try your own version of the pixie cut? Your low maintenance tresses will keep you feeling cool and looking your best. Go short.
