The Best Bangs for SummerIt may be true that bangs never really go out of style, but this summer they are most definitely back with a vengeance. There are many different ways to wear your bangs this year, which means that there is surely a style that will flatter your face and give you a hip new look.

Side Swept Bangs

Long bangs swept to the side of the face is one of the hottest styles this year, and it is one that can be easy to get with a bit of style savvy. After towel drying your hair, apply a bit of hair serum to your bangs. You can add a volumizer if you want to bring more oomph to your style. With a round brush, blow dry your bangs while rolling them around the brush. If you like a bit of flip to your do, pull the brush to the side that you want the flip to go. With the proper technique, your bangs will fall to the side of your face; loose, carefree and oh, so sexy.

Your face shape will determine the best type of bangs for you to sport. A round face will look best with long, sleek bangs that have a bit of volume at the roots. Side swept bangs will be particularly flattering on a square face shape with longer layers that will frame the face and emphasize the eyes. A heart shaped face looks best with layers around the cheekbones and jaw line to disguise the narrow chin and soften the cheekbones. Those fortunate enough to possess an oval face shape will be able to wear side bangs in nearly any style they wish.

Go Retro with Bettie Bangs

Another look that has gained popularity this year is the Bettie bang, which is reminiscent of bombshells like Bettie Page and Louise Brooks. The Bettie bang is a thick bang that is cut straight across the forehead with a slight dip in the center. These bangs are generally worn straight down and curled under for extra volume. A variation of this look is a shorter bang that is worn completely straight across the brow, known as the Louise Brooks style.

While these types of bangs can be flattering on most women, keep in mind that banged styles are rarely of the wash and wear variety. It takes a bit of time to blow dry and sometimes curl these dos, and styling products and hairspray are usually required to hold your bangs in place. However, if you have a bit of time to work your style in the mornings, you will find that bangs will add sass and sex appeal to many types of hairstyles.
