Hair Screening: What Toxins is your Body Storing in your Tresses?

Hair screening is definitely not new, but it is becoming increasingly popular as we combat the effects of aging and the environment. At-home testing kits are available and are widely accepted as a catalyst for implementing or eliminating certain aspects of your diet.

What is Hair Screening?

Hair screening or hair analysis is the most convenient lab test used to measure overall health and mineral imbalances. To date, studies show that it is a safe, easy and inexpensive way to measure your health at any age. Kits can be purchased on-line or done at many doctor’s offices. It is recommended to screen once or twice per year.

The procedure is simple. You lift the top layer of hair from the back of your head and cut a small amount in a way that won’t be visible when your hair is styled. Kits come with complete instructions and an envelope that you use to seal your hair and send it off for a specialist to screen. The results are returned usually in about one week.

Why Hair Screening?

Our hair permanently records the trace elements we’ve been exposed to as a result of both environmental and dietary factors. Screening is so effective in detecting these minerals because hair is not affected by what you’ve eaten in the past week. It measures the level of minerals in your tissue over the past 3-5 months. Hair screening allows you to see not only what you’ve been exposed to, but how your body has responded giving you an accurate guideline for improving your health.

Hair screening is more accurate than blood and urine testing because, except under duress, your body forces itself to maintain normal levels of minerals. Not so with the hair which simply absorbs and “calculates” the minerals and metal toxicity we’ve been exposed to. (Just as proper mineral balance is important to maintaining good health and overcoming health problems, exposure to heavy metals can directly affect our health. Heavy metals can interrupt the absorption of essential minerals.) Hair screening reveals our deficiencies and our excess mineral and metal exposure.

What can Hair Screening Do for me?

Because minerals and toxins are unavoidable, they affect us all. Found in our food, water and in the air, they play a major role in our overall well-being. Every one of us will respond differently to ingestion and exposure to minerals and toxins. Hair screening can detect the minerals and toxins that are affecting your sexual function, immune system and much more. If you are currently experiencing health problems, hair screening can be an accurate means for your doctor to provide you with a health care regimen to combat your poor health or to improve and sustain your level of good health.
