Lavender Calendula Comfort Cream PDF Print E-mail
This rich, excellent cream has a slightly green-yellow color from the herbal infusion and calendula. The light aroma of petigrain, rosewood and lavender is pleasant and soothing to the skin.

Ingredients:

58 grams calendula infused olive oil
1/16th teaspoon  lecithin
4 grams emulsifying wax
5 grams beeswax
24 grams herbal distilled water infusion of dried chamomile and plaintain herbs
10 grams lavender hydrosol
1/4 teaspoon borax
2 drops St. John's Wort essential oil
1/16th teaspoon calendula CO2
8 drops petigrain essential oil
10 drops rosewood essential oil

Blending Procedure:

  1. Combine first calendula infused olive oil, lecithin, emulsifying wax and beeswax in a large heat proof (I use Pyrex) glass measuring cup with a pour spout. Place the mixture in a hot water bath until the waxes are completely melted. Remove from heat.

  2. In a separate Pyrex cup, combine the herbal distilled water infusion, hydrosol and borax. Place the mixture in a bath until for about 10 minutes to warm the mix and dissolve the borax. (The borax will not dissolve completely until you stir it in; see Step 4.) Remove from heat.

  3. Stir the oils/waxes together to make sure they are evenly combined. Add the calendula CO2 next and stir until it dissolves into the oil/wax mixture.

  4. In the separate container, stir the water ingredients to make sure they are evenly combined.

  5. Begin stirring the oil/wax mixture with an electric mixer and add the water mixture as you stir. You will see the mixture begin to thicken as you blend it. Continue mixing until until Lavender Calendula Comfort Cream is thick and rich. This should happen in just a few minutes. Add the St. John's Wort, rosewood and petigrain essential oils after the cream forms and stir gently to incorporate. Pour into clean jars.
