Light Lotion Potion PDF Print E-mail
I first made this recipe for a woman who wanted a lotion with rich ingredients, but did not want a greasy feel on her skin. This potion fit the bill perfectly, delivering nutrient-rich oils in a light base that absorbs quickly and easily into the skin. The rose hydrosol lends a light, gentle rose scent that even the most sensitive nose will likely enjoy.

Ingredients:

30 grams fractionated coconut oil
19 grams shea butter
12 grams sweet almond oil
8 grams jojoba oil
21 grams emulsifying wax
7 grams stearic acid
326 grams rose hydrosol
100 grams aloe vera gel
15 grams vegetable glycerin

Blending Procedure:

  1. Combine the coconut oil, sweet almond oil, shea butter, jojoba oil, emulsifying wax and stearic acid in a large heat proof (I use Pyrex) glass measuring cup with a pour spout.
  2. Place the mixture in a hot water bath until the waxes are completely melted. Remove from heat. In a separate Pyrex cup, combine the hydrosol, aloe vera and glycerin.
  3. Place the mixture in a bath for about 10 minutes to warm, then stir until the glycerin dissolves completely. Remove from heat.
  4. Stir the oils/waxes together to make sure they are evenly combined. In the separate container, stir the water ingredients to make sure they are evenly combined.
  5. Begin stirring the oil/wax mixture with an electric mixer on medium speed and add the water mixture as you stir. You will see the mixture begin to thicken as you blend it.
  6.  Continue mixing until until Light Lotion Potion is thick and rich. I have found that blending for anything less than 20 minutes does not allow enough time for this lotion to become stable.
  7. Mixing for less time than this could resultin separation of the lotion. Pour into clean bottles. I like to use plastic bottles with flip top lids for easy dispensing.
