The Changing Style of David Beckham Popular soccer player David Beckham has raised the bar in men’s hairstyles in recent years. This soccer star always looks his best in the latest hairstyle trends, and he never shows up in the same do for very long. Beckham’s constant evolution into new styles has inspired many men to lighten up and have more fun experimenting with a wide variety of looks. Who says you must keep the same cut for a decade? Now you can try out multiple looks with a single trip to the salon.

Finding the Cut

The first step in creating the David Beckham look is to find the most flattering cut for you. Fortunately, this trend-setting man has left you plenty to choose from. You can shave the sides of your head close to the scalp, leaving a short Mohawk in the center of your head. Beckham has done many creative things with the Mohawk, leaving his sides and back razor cut for definition, shaved completely for shock factor and cut to one side for a unique and funky look. Generally, the top section is kept relatively short for an updated “hawk” that is easy to style and maintain.

Beckham has also been known to go long, with strands all the way to his shoulders in some cases. On certain occasions, he has been seen with the front and sides slicked back away from his face, and at other times his hair is worn straight down and slightly tousled. The longer cut calls for angled layers that will add volume and shape to the style.

For a more sophisticated, polished look, Beckham has gone with a shorter cut that sports jagged layers in the back and a longer top of a single length that can be worn swept to one side. This type of cut will work well for medium to fine hair types, especially if you are looking for a way to add additional body to your hair. The top can be worn slightly messy with stray strands sticking up, or you can add a dollop of mousse to freshly washed hair and blow dry completely for a more tailored look.

Playing with Color

When it comes to copying David Beckham’s style, the right cut is only half of the equation.   Once you have found the perfect style for your face shape and hair type, the next step will be to select the perfect color treatment that will put the finishing touch on your new do. Beckham plays with color plenty in his hair, from a bleached effect all over his head, to frosted strands just at the tip for a modern effect. If your hair is medium brown, blonde highlights can do plenty to bring out the style of a great cut. Mohawk styles are tailor-made for some color at the tips and a few lighter strands in longer styles will give it the sun-kissed, California look and add texture to your hair as well.

David Beckham is living proof that men can wear more than one hairstyle – and wear it extremely well. Don’t settle for the same old hair any longer; check out what’s new in hair by browsing the changing faces of David Beckham and find a great updated look for you.
