This was the first cream made in my first "Making Aromatherapy Creams & Lotions" workshops back in 1998. I have always liked it because of its rich texture and easy spreadability.
Ingredients: 10 grams apricot kernel oil 10 grams jojoba oil 10 grams hazelnut oil 1 gram lecithin 4 grams mimosa wax 5 grams emulsifying wax 30 grams Roman chamomile hydrosol 30 grams rose hydrosol 1/2 teaspoon borax 1/8 teaspoon xanthan gumBlending Procedure: - Combine the oils, lecithin and waxes (the first 6 listed ingredients) in a heat proof (I use Pyrex) 16 oz. glass measuring cup. Place the mixture in a hot water bath until the waxes are completely melted. Remove from heat.
- In a separate Pyrex cup, combine the hydrosols and place them into a hot water bath for about 10 minutes to warm them and dissolve the borax. (The borax will not dissolve completely until you stir it in; see Step 4.) Remove from heat.
- Stir the oils/waxes together to make sure they are evenly combined.
- In the separate container, stir the water ingredients to make sure they are evenly combined.
- Begin stirring the oil/wax mixture with an electric mixer and add the water mixture as you stir. You will see the mixture begin to thicken as you blend it. Continue mixing until until Mimosa Chamomile Body Cream is thick and rich. This should take only a few minutes. Pour into a clean jar or jars and allow to cool for a short time before capping.
- Store in the fridge between uses if you'd like to extend freshness.
