This fabulous cream was made on the spur of the moment one morning when my apprentices Rhea and Cecilia were in my kitchen whipping up goodies. We liked it because the rich oils helped to soothe our dry patches, especially elbows and heels. This also makes a really nice and rich facial cream for dry skin. Hope you like it too!
Ingredients: 10 grams virgin coconut oil 2 grams Vitamin E 8 grams avocado oil (we used unrefined) 10 grams jojoba oil 8 grams emulsifying wax 2 grams stearic acid 60 grams distilled water 1/2 teaspoon borax 1/4 teaspoon xanthan gum 3 drops ylang ylang essential oil 5 drops lavender essential oil Blending Procedure: - Combine the coconut oil (be sure to use the virgin oil to get the fabulously natural coconut scent), Vitamin E, avocado oil, jojoba oil, emulsifying wax and stearic acid in a large heat proof (I use Pyrex) glass measuring cup with a pour spout. Place the mixture in a hot water bath until the waxes are completely melted. Remove from heat.
- Place the distilled water, xanthan gum and borax in a separate Pyrex cup and warm for about 15 minutes in a hot water bath.
- After stirring the oils/waxes together to make sure they are evenly combined, begin stirring the oil/wax mixture with an electric mixer on medium speed and add the water mixture as you stir. You will see the mixture begin to thicken as you blend it. Continue mixing until until Virgin CocoJojo Cream is thick and rich. Add the essential oil last. The entire mixing period should last no longer than about 5-10 minutes.
- Pour the cream into clean jars and allow to cool before capping. This cream does not contain a preservative. If kept refrigerated, and if a cosmetic spatula (instead of fingers) is used to dispense the product, it should last about 6-8 weeks, or you can add your desired preservative according to your supplier''s directions. Enjoy!!
