Whipped Vanilla Butter PDF Print E-mail
This is my version of "Whipped Shea Butter" formulated because I struggle to get affordable shea butter in my country, South Africa. I love the way it smells and the way it leaves my skin so soft! The vanilla fragrance blends beautifully with the chocolate scent of the the unrefined cocoa butter. Ingredients are measured in grams (weight). Approximate conversions in ounces (also weight) are provided.

Yield: Approx. 7 ounces in volume (200 grams in weight)
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Price Category: 2
Difficulty Level: 3
Shelf Life: 6 months

Ingredients:
80g (about 3 ounces) unrefined cocoa butter
40g (about 1.5 ounces) Coconut Oil (not fractionated)
32g (about 1ounce) avocado oil
20g (0.7 ounces) macadamia noil
15g (about 1/2 ounce) virgin (light colored) olive oil
6g (about 2 teaspoons) beeswax
2g (about 1 teaspoon) vanilla fragrance oil
3g (about 1 teaspoon) Vitamin E
2g (about one teaspoon) corn starch

Blending Procedure:

  1. Gently melt all ingredients except fragrance oil, Vitamin E & corn starch together until the beeswax & cocoa butter are softened. Remove from heat.

  2. Stir the mixture gently until it starts too cool and become thicker. Place in freezer for 3 minutes at a time, removing from freezer after the alloted time and whip with an electric beater until light and fluffy.

  3. Scrape the bowl with a spatula between whippings to ensure that the whole mixture is whipped. Five freeze/whip sessions should be sufficient to obtain a light, fluffy butter that will double in size from the originally melted mixture.

  4. Use the beater to whip in the fragrance oil, Vitamin E and corn starch and quickly transfer the mixture into clean, wide mouthed jars.

  5. This product is great for applying to all dry areas and also great for pregnant bellies. A little goes a long way so I recommend packaging it in small jars.
