This easy to make balm will leave any dry area of skin feeling smoothed and moisturized, plus scented with a slightly topical aroma.
Yield: approx. 2.5 ounces Prep Time: 15 minutes Price Category: 2 Difficulty Level: 1 Shelf Life: IndefiniteIngredients: 1 ounce virgin coconut oil 1 ounce shea butter (we used unrefined for this recipe) 0.4 ounces beeswax 2 drops ylang ylang essential oil 10 drops tangerine essential oil Blending Procedure: - Place the virgin coconut oil and shea butter into a heat proof measuring cup. (I use Pyrex.) Place the cup into a pot of boiling water. When the wax is nearly completely melted, remove from heat and stir to melt the wax completely.
- Let the mixture cool for about 5 minutes, then add the essential oils and stir well to incorporate. (This product smells great even without essential oils because of the unique aroma of the virgin coconut oil and raw shea butter.)
- Pour your Ylang Tangerine Dry Skin Balm into a clean glass container and allow to cool completely (about an hour) before capping tightly and labeling. The shelf life is 6 months to a year if fresh ingredients and clean containers are used, and if only clean fingers are used to dispense the product.
