Whether you want to grow a mustache, full-on beard or goatee, growing facial hair is like an art. Not only do you have to be concerned with how and where the facial is growing, but the state of your skin as well. If you're thinking about a change that involves growing facial hair, follow these simple steps to ensure that the end result is one you’ll be happy with.
Once you`ve decided on a specific look, get to growing! Obviously, you need to refrain from shaving your face altogether while waiting for the right amount of hair to grow out. While the rate of hair growth varies, waiting 4-6 weeks is a safe time period. As excited as you may be about your new look, be patient. One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to start sculpting or trimming your new facial hair before it`s long enough. Once your facial hair has grown out completely, your best bet is to make an appointment at the barbershop or salon where a professional stylist can help you define the lines and the shape of your new style. If you want to do bad by yourself, make sure to invest in a good hair trimmer and please make sure you know how to use it! In case you didn`t already know, sometimes growing out facial hair and maintaining it can cause an annoying, itching sensation. Discipline yourself and don`t scratch! The last thing you need is to be noticed for your rash instead of your new masculine look. Make sure to wash and condition your beard or other facial hair regularly. This will ensure that the skin stays clean and free from bacteria and dirt. You`ll also more than likely have to step up your grooming habits, as everyday routines such as eating and drinking can be quite difficult when you`ve got hair in the way. Ready to go back to being smooth as a baby's bottom? There`s a skincare-friendly way to go about this as well. Use a beard trimmer or hair clippers. Get rid of as much hair as possible and then follow that up with a regular razor. Make sure to cleanse, moisturize and pamper that area of your face for the next few days after shaving your facial hair to prevent breakouts and other skincare problems.
