Winter 2008 Hair Trends for Men

Say goodbye to the mullet style and bid adieu to the faux hawk. There are some new do’s in town for the winter months this year. This season, there are styles for guys that run from the barely there, to long layers, and plenty in between. And if retro is your thing, check out the updated looks in rocker hair and punk styles. There’s even a flattering way to grow out that mullet that will look so 2007. Warm up the winter months with a hot new style that your favorite lady is sure to love.

Go Short

Short hair will always be a popular choice with a portion of the male population, and this season shorter is definitely better. Whether you want to go for the “barely there” buzz cut or opt for some really short layers for additional coverage, you can find the perfect short do for you. Buzz cuts just never seem to get outdated, and this year is no exception to the rule. Check out the buzz that Brad Pitt has been sporting and you will see exactly why short is sexy this winter.

Go Long

Johnny Depp’s been wearing it and so has Tom Cruise. There are few styles more tantalizing than a long layered mane, especially when it is paired with a bit of facial hair for a rugged urban look. It was unfortunate that longer hairstyles for men went by the wayside at the end of the last century, but they are back with a vengeance and an updated style. Long hair can be classified as any length below the ear and above the shoulder. A few long layers will add texture that is so today. If you are feeling a little more daring, try a few highlights and lowlights to really enhance your style.

Medium and Messy

Medium-length hairstyles this year are generally cut closer to the head on the sides and left a bit longer on top. You can gel it up and go for the messy look that David Beckham and Hugh Laurie are sporting, or you can leave it down like the more classic style of George Clooney. Keep in mind that if you are going for the “just rolled out of bed” look, you don’t really want to roll out of bed and head out the door. Give your hair a comb through, rub in a bit of gel and work your fingers through the strands until you’ve got the look you want.

Class never goes out of style – just ask the ultra-sexy and timeless James Bond. A classic gentleman’s hairstyle like the one Pierce Brosnan flaunted in the 007 flicks begins with a layered cut that is longer in the center and shorter on the sides. Pomade can be worked into the dry hair to help hold the style, and then the front and sides are generally finger-combed back in a well-groomed style that is fit for the top British Agent of all time.
