BRIGHT EYE SHADOW

Bold hues covered lids on many spring runways, with shades of purple, gold, green and blue drawing serious attention to the eyes. "The colors are bright but the textures are sheer. It's not as scary as it was in the '70s," Estee Lauder makeup stylist Rick DiCecca told the Associated Press. "In the '70s and '80s, you had really bright colors and heavy textures, but thanks to technology, you can wear more color."

PINK LIPS

Bubblegum. Rose. Fuschia. Salmon. Flamingo. We could go on and on. If you decide to buy one new lipstick this season, make it a shade of pink. Matte pink was particularly popular, but a nice glossy pink made several appearances, as well. "You first need to camouflage the pink tones in your lips with foundation before adding color," celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal says on InStyle.com. "Otherwise, the final shade can look muddy."

NATURAL BEAUTY

It may sound silly, but it takes a combination of the right cosmetics to create a flawless, nude complexion. And many big-name brands - from MAC to Bobbi Brown to Sonia Kashuk for Target - have come out with nude palettes. Designers dug it, too, sending models with bare-looking skin down their runways. Look for a foundation or tinted moisturizer that matches your skin tone and add a sheer gloss for a natural look.

FRINGE

The big-bang trend is here to stay. Straight and blunt or long and side-swept, fringe can freshen a look. "The best beauty advice I've ever received was to cut my bangs," Anastasia Soare, known as Hollywood's queen of brows, says in the new book Sephora, from the beauty emporium. "I finally did it and now I look 20 years younger!"
