Page 2 of 2 Dionne Mears from Gloss Beauty Bar offers these makeup tips and techniques useful for teens: Face: Use a liquid concealer to cover up blemishes. Dab it where it's red and blend it into the skin with your finger or a sponge. Mears says less is more with foundation. Don't apply a layer over your entire face. Do blend it with an SPF moisturizer for a lighter look and feel. Most importantly, "Make sure you are using a colour that matches your skin. Ask for help. Try some on and look at it in natural light to judge," Mears says. "Being able to use concealer well is good for self-esteem at that age." She says a light bronzing powder or spray applied only in places where the sun hits the face (forehead, cheekbones and nose) can give a nice, natural glow. Apply blush lightly only to the apples of your cheeks, using a colour as close to your natural blush as possible. Eyes: "A nice natural way to perk up eyes is highlights on the brow bone, along the inside of the brow line," says Mears. "Use something natural and light instead of super shimmery." To get rid of dark circles under the eyes, dab concealer underneath your eye and use your pinkie finger to work it in. For those learning to use eyeliner, Mears suggests a pencil to start. But an angled brush with eyeshadow creates the best effects and blending. "It just takes practice," she says. Mears says mascara accentuates eyes of any age, and girls can use a curler to open them up more. "As a teenager you can get away with only mascara and lip gloss and always look great," she says. Lips: A little bit of liner and a light gloss are all teens need to get a fresh and sophisticated look, says Mears. "When you're young, you want to keep it natural but pretty."
