Whether they’re noticeable or not, when men have skincare problems - just like their female counterparts - they want to know what they can do to correct it. Luckily, there is no skincare science to taking care of common issues. However for male skin, tackling these nuisances need proper attention and won’t just go away overnight. Find out what steps you need to take to ensure that your complexion stays happy and at its best.
Dark under eye circles plague even the manliest of men. Since there aren’t many men who can actually pull off the haggard, dark under eye circle look, chances are you want a remedy that will banish them for good. It may be slightly easier said than done but definitely not impossible. The major reason behind the formation of under eye circles is lack of sleep. The most obvious remedy would be to simply schedule more sleep in your life. Unfortunately, for the majority of men, this isn’t an option. While every man should do his best to get at least eight hours of sleep a night, it also helps to up the ante by using a good eye product that is formulated to keep the eye area well moisturized and filled to the brim with antioxidants. You can search online or at your local skincare counter at the department store to find the right eye cream or serum that you can begin using right away. Other quick fixes that don’t involve paying for a product include using raw potato slices, cucumber slices or a cold eye mask and placing it over your eyes for ten minutes to help reduce puffiness. Suffering from layers of dry, flaky, icky skin? No problem! Most men will find this remedy not only helpful but easy to do: moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! If you have a dry skin type or are just experiencing a bout of dryness, keep a moisturizer and/or body lotion handy. Never let your skin get to the point where it’s so dry that your skin feels tight or itchy. At the first sign of dryness, apply your moisturizer or lotion as needed. The great thing about moisturizer is that you can apply it as often as you want, no matter what time of day or where you are. Stay away from using hot water on your face and only take lukewarm baths and showers. To guarantee your skin stays properly hydrated, apply moisturizer or body lotion within five to ten minutes of stepping out of the shower or bath. Also avoid rubbing your skin dry when it’s wet. By keeping the skin slightly damp your moisturizer will be able to better absorb into the skin.
For men experiencing the opposite of dry skin, handling oily skin can be a challenge but not too difficult if you take the right steps. The problem with oily skin is that it often results in clogged pores, which almost always leads to breakouts. Men with oily skin should be very diligent about keeping their complexions clean and free of excess oil. To achieve this, wash your face at least twice a day with a gentle cleanser make for oily skin types and stay away from foods that contain a lot of fats and oils. When using moisturizer, stick with oil-free formulas and also avoid too much sun, since this can cause your skin to produce more oil. Don’t put too much moisturizer where it’s not needed. This can result in blocking your pores, tricking your skin to produce more oil, which is the last thing you need.
