Three women who had Injectable fillers to enhance their rears developed kidney failure after the procedure. The women who all had the procedure done at an unlicensed clinic based in North Carolina have luckily recovered from the ordeal. They filed complaints in December 2007 resulting in their complaints being investigated.

This resulted in the Center for Disease Control (CDC) publishing the result of their investigation in its publication, Morbidity and Mortality Weekly. It is believed that the derriere-enhancing substance used on the women was liquid silicone. However, the CDC was unable to ‘positively identify the substance since it has never been linked to kidney failure in the past.’

Investigations also revealed that the doctor who performed the procedures was unlicensed.  Following the women’s complaints, the CDC has issued a statement warning consumers to be cautious when ‘planning for cosmetic procedures.’ According to the CDC soft tissue injected fillers can lead to death as well as major illnesses.
