Apparently facing down hordes of swashbuckling pirates was a cakewalk compared to Keira Knightley’s latest role. Reports online suggest that the lofty wig she wore for her role in period drama, The Duchess was so heavy, a platform had to be built for it. She told a US newspaper, "High heels are bad enough. I don`t think you need a corset and wigs, as well. The wigs were the problem. They were big like birdcages.”
Knightley plays Georgiana Cavendish, an 18th century aristocrat. She found that looking like a beauty from that period was not an easy task. She was quoted as saying, "I had neck ache. I literally couldn`t hold the thing up. So they built me a stand so I could rest the whole lot on." Still, her fictional shipmate, Jack Sparrow, may very well have appreciated the end results.
The Duchess was released on September 5 in the UK.
