As fast as fall and winter come and go so does the next year's summer color stories. Summer 2008 is certainly no different. Summer 2008 describes an intimate, inward-looking world focused on the body. It conjures up a person full of ambivalent elegance, with contrasting or mutually supportive qualities. Again Fashion Trendsetters has presented a remarkable lineup of colors that will stand out under the hot summer sun. The color story is called Le Cuir A Paris - Summer 2008 Colors and is described like poetry.

"A person fascinated by contemporary art who takes inspiration from digital photos, video exhibitions, conceptual installations, vegetal design and land art. A way of sucking in nature and spitting it out as a conceptual manifesto. A dream of well being and humanized design. A person able to reconcile extremes, from the monumental to the molecular, from the ostentatious to the austere."

These descriptions are talked about even before the first color is mentioned. Talk about getting someone in the mood; this is a unique way of presenting color. But I could never write or describe color like that myself. I'd rather be formulating. But if that got you started, it should automatically make you want to hear more. "The hours string out along a beautiful summer day. The hazy colors of early morning are followed by the sunny hues of lunch in the open air. The bluish shades of the siesta hour give way to the flashy, arty, flowery colors of a frenzied dance on the sand. At last, the day draws to a close, plunges into deep night punctuated by charred browns and striped with luminous flashes."

Now for the colors themselves. Based on my experience I have to describe them as follows: The Wake-Up group contains grays to light pastels. Lunch under the Sun is loaded with yellow to red-orange and red. Sleeping In the Shadows is made up of earthy reds and browns. Dance on the Beach is a witty group comprised of violets to purple and turquoise. And finally Night Dive manifests itself with exciting deep, dark, vivid blue, green and brown hues. Nice descriptive names, but everything one would want to expect and ultimately experience in the fun filled days of summer.

Now that you know what the colors are (courtesy of Fashion Trendsetters) you can match them up with the text presented by Fashion Trendsetters and used to describe these colors. Their website displays the colors so that you can look at them yourselves. They are a very good if not exact representation of what summer really is. From lights to darks, they cover the complete range of the color spectrum, which is what summer is all about. Many upcoming color and beauty trends will be available for a look-see at trade shows such as the China Beauty Expo to be held in the early summer of 2008. Shows such as this are held all over the world and they are attended by representatives, both marketing and technical, from the leading cosmetic companies from across the globe. As we have seen, China has become one of the emerging powers in the beauty business.

As I have stated many times, these websites are great sources of information for both the consumer and the color cosmetics formulator. Without them it would be very difficult to predict the upcoming fashion stories without attending the fashion shows in Paris and Milan in person. They are at least 6 to 8 months ahead of the upcoming season and this is enough time to determine what shades should be at the cosmetics counter to match the season's fashions. New products are being launched all the time to meet the growing needs of the consumer.
