Mirror, mirror, on the wall; who’s the fairest of them all? Perhaps the witch in the Snow White story wanted to win that contest, but truly fair-skinned women know that finding the right makeup shades for this complexion can be a challenge. Especially when the warm weather of summer begins to cool, and the colors of the season begin to move to deep, rich shades. Paler complexions run the risk of washing out or looking garish in darker hues that are clearly not made for them. So what is the “fairest of them all” supposed to do when it comes to makeup colors this fall?
Pink Undertones get Cool If your skin is fair with pink undertones, you can head toward the rose-colored palette at your cosmetics counter. If you are blonde, keep those colors in the pink range, while darker hair can handle the brighter shades. Keep blush in the pink or beige shades, and use a cream formula for a more subtle look. If you are blonde, opt for a brown/black mascara to avoid too much contrast with the eyes. Lips can shine with a brighter pink lipstick, and perhaps a dash of gloss for a little extra shine. This complexion can also sport some shimmer for an evening look, as long as you stick with the lighter shades underneath the sparkle.
Yellow Undertones stay Warm If your skin tends toward a yellow undertone, one of the hottest new looks for this fall is a yellow eye shadow. You will be surprised at how understated and feminine a yellow color on the eyes can be. For a more natural look, there are plenty of beige and bronze tones that will look beautiful with your eyes as well. Pink does not work as well with this complexion, so head toward the peaches and corals for the right shade of brightening in blush and lipstick. If you simply must have your pink, make sure it is a shade with some bronze or peach undertones to ensure that it will blend well with your natural coloring. Brighter colors on the lips and cheeks will help to prevent a washed out appearance.
Mirror, mirror, on the wall – so, who’s the fairest of them all now? You will be, with the right choice of makeup shades to complement that porcelain complexion. Love your fair skin.
