What is exfoliation:
After you cleanse your face, you should "exfoliate." Exfoliating means whisking away the top layers of dead surface cells from your skin, making it look brighter and feel smoother.

To exfoliate skin and face, you massage a gritty exfoliating scrub over damp skin, then rinse away with warm water

There are lots of different ways you can exfoliate your body - so there's one to suit every budget and preference.

1) Your first option is to buy an exfoliating scrub, which is a cream or gel based product containing tiny abrasive particles. Look for the type with rounded particles which do not scratch and irritate delicate skin. Simply massage the scrub into damp skin then rinse away thoroughly with lots of warm water.

2) Your ordinary wash cloth or bath sponge can also develop as an exfoliator. Leather up with plenty of soap or gel and massage over damp skin before rinsing away with clear water.

3) A bath mitt, loofah or sisal mitt are a cinch to use and cost effective too. They can be quite harsh on the skin if you press too hard, so go easily at first. Rinse well after use and allow them to dry naturally. Simply sweep over your body when you are in the shower or bath.

4) Copy what health spas do and keep a large tub of natural sea salt by the shower. Scoop up a handful when you get in and massage over your skin. Rinse away thoroughly afterwards.

5) Body brushes are also useful to exfoliate skin. The best way to use them is on dry skin before you get in the bath or shower as this is particularly good for loosing dead skin cells. You can also use them in the water leathering them up with soap or gel.

You can also make your own skin exfoilate at home

Mix sea salt with body oil or olive oil. Allow the mixture to soak into your skin for a few minutes to allow the edges of the salt to dissolve before massaging in, then rinsing away.
Apply an exfoliating cleanser specially designed for faces to the loofah or sponge. Some exfoliating cleansers contain up to 25 percent pumice, and these should never be used on the face.
Apply a moisturizer containing alpha or beta hydroxy acids. These acids will continue the exfoliating process, because acids cause additional dead skin cells to slough off.
