ImageSummertime makeup routines call for a clean and natural look but makeup meltdown can occur with even the most minimal amount of makeup. Heat, humidity, an active lifestyle and an individual’s skin type are several factors that affect the longevity of makeup. But keeping a fresh-faced look does not need to be a constant struggle thanks to the use of some helpful products.

Waterproof mascara – choose a brown for blondes and redheads and a brown-black for brunettes. Choose a soft black for very deep skin tones only. Avoid using if you have sensitive eyes since waterproof mascara contains more waxes and dyes and requires an oil-based eye makeup remover.

·           Water-proof or sweat-proof foundations – for those who can’t leave the house without “their face”, look for brands that provide “light” or “sheer” coverage and contain ingredients such as film-forming polymers, silica (which provides a matte finish), antioxidants C and E (to ward off damage from free radicals) and has a minimum SPF 15.

·           Eyeliner and eyebrow sealant – to ensure color or any unruly eyebrow hairs stay in place.

·           Lipstain – creates an effect similar to eating a Popsicle and color can last for up to 6 hours.   Usually available in a double ended wand with stain on one end and a clear sealant on other end. The latest clear sealant on lipstains contains collagen particles for a lip plumping effect.
