Los Angeles Breast Augmentation

Los Angeles Breast enlargement (or breast augmentation) is a frequently performed procedure. Breast augmentation is performed to increase the size of breasts, restore breast volume which may have diminished following pregnancy, or improve breast asymmetry. In some patients who developed breast sagging (ptosis), a breast lift may be required.

During your breast enlargement consultation with us, you will be able to estimate what volume you desire. The final volume will be determined based on your desired volume and your chest/body anatomy. Our goal is to create enhanced and naturally appearing breasts.

What kind of breast implants do you use?

We use silicone and saline-filled implants. Saline is salt water. The majority of the human body is composed of this salt water and it is therefore harmless to you. Silicone breast implants have been recently approved by FDA for breast augmentation as well. Breast implants have different widths and amount of projection. We will discuss the different types of breast implants with you and choose the type that will produce the desired cosmetic result.

How is breast augmentation performed?

We place a small incision under the breast, around the areolar (pigmented circle around the nipple), or in the armpit. The choice of the incision will be discussed with you and will depend on your preference and your anatomy. A pocked is created under the muscle where an implant is then placed. In most patients we use general anesthesia for breast augmentation. However, local analgesia and sedation can be used in some patients.

What is recovery like following breast augmentation?

Your initial discomfort will be controlled using pain medications. You will wear a support bra for several weeks.

We use absorbable sutures that do not need to be removed. Most swelling will resolve within several weeks. You will be able to start performing more vigorous exercises with your arms in about 4 weeks after surgery. Within several months the breasts will soften and improve in appearance.
