Labial Reduction, Labioplasty or Labiaplasty

Excess tissue or skin in the vaginal area, specifically to the labia minora (small vaginal lips or inner lips) is a common problem. This condition can develop following childbirth or inherited. Excess tissue in the labia minor causes them to protrude beyond the labia majora (large vaginal lips). This excess tissue can cause discomfort, irritation and discomfort during physical activity, while inserting tampons or having sexual intercourse.

Labial reduction (labioplasty) is a procedure that reduces skin excess so that labia minora are even or within labia majora.

How is the procedure performed?

This procedure in performed under local or general anesthesia. It takes about 30 minutes to perform. Dr. Grigoryants usually performs this procedure in the office using local anesthesia or at the hospital under general anesthesia especially if other procedures are performed at the same time (for example, with a tummy tuck or breast surgery).

No sutures will need to be removed as Dr. Grigoryants uses absorbable sutures. . Patients typically report no or very little pain. Exercises or sexual intercourse may be resumed in 6 weeks.
