Applying Blush the Correct WayKnowing how to apply blush the correct way can make all the difference when you are trying to achieve a natural look. Too much blush can make you look harsh while too little blush can make you look tired and dull.

The first step in applying your blush is to find your cheekbones. To do this, smile and find the center of the apple of your cheeks with your fingers. Move your fingers up to your ears to follow the bone of the cheek. This is where you will apply your blush. Another way to find your cheekbone is to suck your cheeks in and feel along the bone with your fingers.

Next, begin by placing a small amount of blush to a large blush brush and gently tap off any excess blush. If you are working with a cream blush, start by placing a small amount of the cream on your middle index finger.

Beginning at the center of the apple and apply the powder blush by brushing up your cheekbone toward the hairline. To apply the cream blush, dot the cream at the center of the apple and blend toward the hairline. If you’re unsure where the center of your apple begins, start your blush at the iris of your eye and blend out toward the hairline.

Finally, blend your blush with a makeup sponge by using the edge to buff away any sharp lines and create a soft natural look.

Some tips to remember:

·    Powder blush is a good choice for Oily skin while cream blush is better suited for dry skin.

·    If you have a round face, begin your blush at the outside of your face near your temples to create a slimming look.   This tip will also work in accentuating high cheekbones.

·    If you have an oblong face, apply your blush no higher than the lower edge of your cheekbone and brush horizontally instead of at an angle to create width.

·    For high cheekbones, you can accentuate them by applying your blush at the center of your face.

·    Always apply your blush after you have applied your foundation and powder. You will also want to apply your blush after you have applied your eye makeup so that the color of your eyeshadow will not be a part of your blush color.

·    If you are using a gel blush, apply the gel by rubbing it in a small circle on the apple of your cheeks with your index finger and blend up toward the hairline.

·    A lighter shade of blush is more appropriate for the daytime, since it will allow you to be more professional in your place of work. Save the darker blushes for special occasions like a night out.

·    To pick the perfect color of blush, try working out. After exercising you will have a natural flush that you can match for the perfect shade of blush. If you’d like to look a little younger, choose a blush with a peach tone to it.

·    Never apply your blush below your cheekbones since this will create an illusion of bring the face down and make you look older.

And finally, remember when it’s time to update your wardrobe, you should update your blush as well. If you change your hair color, this is another great opportunity to change your blush. Now that you have the above tips in mind and know how to apply your blush correctly, don’t forget to Keep on Blushing!
