Tinted cosmetics are changing how many of us wear makeup. These products offer a way to accentuate bare skin while nourishing and protecting it – something we do anyway. Used alone, tinted lines are perfect for those who wear little or no makeup because they are lightweight and use your skin’s natural tone to add color. Most tinted lines are also designed to wear with other cosmetics to complement your favorite shades by blending and highlighting with subtle shades and moisturizers.
The downside to tinted cosmetics is that they do not provide full coverage to problem areas and can not achiever a bold, vibrant look.
Here’s an overview of what you’ll find in tinted cosmetics and how they can work to accentuate your natural beauty.
Tinted Brow Gel and Cream Instead of drawing on thick, heavy color with a brow liner, tinted brow products go on with a styling brush (similar to a mascara brush) to add a subtle hint of color to your eyebrows. Designed to shape and add definition and depth, tinted brow gel creates a soft emphasis over your eyes. Tinted Mascara Lighter in weight and color than traditional mascara, tinted mascara goes on cleaner without clumps or smudges (dependant largely on the brush design). It helps open the eyes and accentuate your natural eye color without darkening the lashes. Tinted mascaras do not require makeup remover, but rinse clean with just your cleanser and water. They are especially appealing to contact wearers and those with sensitive eyes.
Tinted Eye Makeup These oil-free creams and gels are designed to offer a barely-there look for work-outs, trips to the beach, days off and any time you want to look good but not made-up. They normally color the lids and browbones with understated hues accented by a hint of shimmer to give your skin a healthy glow.
Tinted Cheek Makeup Tinted blushes take their cue from traditional cream blush, but a much more lightweight. Best used to highlight the apple of your cheek for a bit of sun-kissed radiance, some cheek tints also have enough color pigment to work as a contour under the cheekbone. These products work well with traditional cheek cosmetics by adding shine and blending bold colors for a softer look. Many cheek tints are also formulated to use on your eyes and lips for a fresh from the beach look.
Tinted Lip Wear These have been on the cosmetic scene for some time. You’ll find lip tints in everything from lip balms to creams to gels. Although it is difficult to determine just what the shade will be when it hits your lips (especially earthy-red tones), the subtlety of the color pigments makes it easily blendable. Tinted lip wear is very effective for use outdoors as it most often comes with SPF protection and moisturizer. It is also great for softening bright lipstick and adding shine.
Tinted Moisturizer This versatile product can be used to add a bit of color to your cheeks and to even the skin’s tone as it moisturizes and protects. You’ll find tinted moisturizers with a wide range of tint to offer coverage best suited to your needs. Tinted moisturizers intended for use on bare skin have barely-there coverage. Others, designed for those who find foundation too heavy but want medium coverage, will find tinted moisturizers in a range of shades much like traditional foundation.
