How many of us wouldn’t like more volume in our hairstyles? Well, get more lift in your locks with a few handy dandy volumizing techniques. With a little extra effort, you can be sporting the biggest hair on the block! The key is all in the products that you are using and the methods of styling that you employ.
Step One: Cleansing Volumizing begins with cleansing, and this step should involve a volumizing or thickening shampoo and conditioner.
Step Two: Styling You can also use a volumizing spray or gel on towel-dried hair for extra help in the lift department before styling. Again, it is best to apply this product to the roots, where you need it most, and avoid putting too much of any good volumizing thing on the ends where hair can get weighted down and become limp. After the volumizing product of choice is applied, hang your head upside down for blow drying for added oomph at the roots. Once your hair is nearly dry, flip your head up and style your ends.
More Tips and Tricks Other volumizing secrets include parting your hair on the side instead of in the middle. A side part will always give your hair additional lift. You can also use a comb to tease the hair towards the scalp, which will give you plenty of extra volume at the roots. This technique seems to be seeing a lot more action this season, so use that teasing comb to your heart’s content! Setting your roots in large rollers before blow drying can also give your style some extra volume.
Another technique that seems to thicken and add volume to hair is the coloring process. Sticking with a color that is close to your natural shade will give you the optimum fullness – or illusion of it. You can also talk to your stylist about the best cut to add lift and bounce to your hair type. Once you have your hair set in the style you like, don’t forget an application of a maximum hold hairspray to keep your strands in place and your bounce going strong all day. Big is in. Grab the volume where you can.
