As the number of plastic surgery procedures done in the United Kingdom rises so does the level of compensation for procedures gone wrong. Statistics from the UK has indicates that 75,000 cosmetic procedures are performed annually. One of Britain’s indemnity and insurance providers, Medical Defence Union, did a study which shows compensation and legal fee pay-out of a little less than £8.5 million since 1996. The figure quoted was from two hundred and sixty-four claims that were settled. This is just thirty percent of all claims made.
Most of these cases were for facial, breast surgeries and liposuction.
