Ever wondered how young some plastic surgery patients are or what cosmetic procedures they have had done? Well, it seems that otoplasty (reshaping of the ears) is quite popular with teenagers. According to the latest figures from the American Academy of cosmetic surgery almost 28 percent of otoplasties performed in 2008 were done on teens aged 13 to 19.  

Otoplasty is a procedure where prominent or protruding ears are reshaped and brought closer to the sides of the head. Teens are opting for this procedure because of the embarrassment and occasional teasing that comes from having large ears. Since the ears are generally fully formed and developed by age six, plastic surgeons are willing to work with younger patients.

President Barack Obama is said to have large ears, which he himself uses to poke fun at himself. Maybe this will help kids feel less badly about having large ears.
